Long Live Surya
Dear Surya Visitors,
At Mr. Patrão's request I write an article of Surya's inauguration. I am honored by this request and by having included an article I wrote innocently for Shotokai France.
Surya is online at last! Congratulations Shotokai Murakami-Kai Portugal!!
The first time I heard about this ambitious project I couldn't wait for it to begin, and now the day is here and the results are exceptional and the future stores even brighter things. I urge all in Shotokai to help in the creation of text and graphical material, backing up the fabulous work.
I wish as many people as possible support Mr. Patrão's work. The projec t surely has earned our respect and our help, even the deadline dates were fulfilled! It can be very sad to notice you are the only one working hard. In my case I have been very lucky to be backed up by my teacher Heyden Sensei that has made possible a great amount of the information on our Encyclopedia but I wish others students would do something too.
Participants in Martial Arts taught in the right way, very soon become interested in knowing more about their discipline, in my case I started due to Oriental philosophy. The interest can begin with wanting to know the school's history, later the art's history, it's philosophy, internal development, other disciplines and so on. This is why I believe this online magazine will be extremely important for all those seeking more than supe= rficial knowledge. Due to its multilingual structure, the wealth of experience the people involved possess, this site will become a reference point for all those interested in oriental arts. I am furthermore committed to make all the sites on our server very easy to find on the Web, either through web searchers or through indexes in multiple languages.
I feel very glad that through our site we can promote and help Shotokai Murakami-Kai's development of projects, as we were able initially with their Home Site. Right from the beginning and even before our new server was up, this was my dream and will continue to be my objective.
At this moment we have two Shotokai sites mirrored (a copy on our server independent of the original one) on our server, one by Shotokai Murakami-kai Portugal and the other by Shotokai Canada. In a few weeks a new one with an independent URL: www.shotokai.org, American Shotokai's site, a group established by some North American Harada Sensei students.
I hope this tendency will continue, we will always be open for other true Shotokai groups (I say "true Shotokai" because there are some that use this name as a method to distinguish themselves from the mass of sport groups).
The Web (World Wide Web) has been growing explosively, current estimates count between 70 and 100 million users! To offer profound, durable and correct information for so many people is an opportunity that is not to be wasted nor taken lightly. So I say it once and again, wake up and show the true face of the Martial Arts, people must know it is not what Hollyw= ood tries to trick people into believing. I hope and wish Surya will help us in that mission.
